Proverbs 30:18 ~ Through a Mothers Eyes

There are three things that amaze me—
yea, four things that I don’t understand:

The way of the bottles to all disappear at once;

the way one meal can transform an entire face;

the fascination of a toilet full of toys;

 and the way of a very young man with a maid.

All inspiration thanks to my sweet, one year old boyish-boy.

A ConCATenation of Circumstances

Painfully funny.

How ironic. About 3 hours later, as the tow truck was finally reeling our car onto the trailer the cat managed to squeeze himself part-way out from behind the engine and I was then able to pull him the rest of the way out. Aughhhh! Well I guess "all is well that ends well." Or in the cat's case, all is well that doesn't end horribly!

p.s. the cat is now long gone, presumedly gone home to live happily ever after, but the car troubles remain with us always. Oh for an old horse and buggy.

Everyday Adventures

Isn't it amazing how something as simple as making cookies can turn into an adventure with a two year old? This afternoon Lucy helped put in the ingredients into the mixer and then helped put the balls of dough on the trays. Of course when she's was done I did straighten out the rows of cookies "a little" before putting them in the oven.

Once the cookies were in the oven I peeked out the door to check on Helen, who was supposed to be happily playing at the sandbox. Well, I guess she just couldn't wait for the cookies, so she scrounged up an afternoon snack for herself elsewhere.

Yes, Helen always has chubby cheeks, but here they were extra chubby from the 12 pieces of dog food stuffed in. Needless to say she did NOT appreciate it when I extricated the food from her mouth.
Is there a moral here? Watch her better? Put the dog dishes out of reach? Hmmm. My conclusion is that maybe I should start buying the "made with real meat" type of dog food, so at least she gets some nutrients...

Hilariously Happy Helen

Yesterday Lucy was napping during lunch so it was just Helen and I. Helen was a VERY happy girl. She just kept going and going, but I only posted one minute of the video so you wouldn't get too bored. I love her belly laugh!

"Playing" Together

The girls really like each other, but Lucy better watch out when Helen catches up and is as big as Lucy is...

As you can tell, I'm enjoying my girls, little sinners that they are.

Lessons in Laundry

After hearing, reading, and talking about "vocation" and how God's will for me today is to simply take care of my home and children...

I spent yesterday morning doing all my weekend laundry & ironing.

See photo below.
Order, where chaos had once been. Notice the sweet girl in front.

Next I hopped onto my computer to get the beautiful photo
uploaded for you all and alas...

See photo #2.
Chaos, where order had once been!

As much as I wanted to blame 18 month old Lucy, I knew that if, instead of blogging about vocation, I had actually been "vocating" this would not have happened. Besides, putting myself in Lucy's shoes, if I were an adventurous little girl and I saw a seemingly endless row of freshly ironed clothes what would I do?

Even still, knowing all this, it took me some time to calm down about the hours of ironing lying crumpled on the floor.
